  • Daggi Wallace
    Daggi Wallace
    Visual Arts: Painting
Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, and now living in Ventura County, CA, Daggi specializes in contemporary portraits. She is a Master Circle Member of the International Association of Pastel Societies, Master Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America and Signature Member of the Pastel Society of the Southwest, a juried member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Degas Pastel Society and Los Angeles Art Association, and a member of the California Art Club and the Portrait Society of America. In 2012 she was selected as Artist-in-Residence at the Studio Channel Islands Art Center in Camarillo, CA, where she maintains her studio and serves on its board of directors. Her work has been shown at the National Arts Club and the Salmagundi Club in NYC, the Butler Institute of American Art, OH, and is in the permanent collection of the Wichita Center for the Arts, KS. Daggi has won numerous awards in regional and national juried exhibitions and her work is in many American and European collections, including Grammy award winning blues musician Buddy Guy. In 2004 she was one of 15 internationally selected artists to participate in the Atelier D’Artista, an International Art Symposium in Tuscany, Italy. In May of 2011 she was juried into the Pastel International Exhibition by Art du Pastel en France in Giverny, France. In 2010 Daggi founded Moni’s Kids, a non-profit organization, painting portraits of children in need and using the proceeds to deliver aid to the children portrayed. “Focusing mainly on portraying the human condition and our connection to each other my work always begins with a visual trigger that evokes a strong emotional response or with an idea I want to explore. I like to create images that tell a story, and provoke thoughts and emotions in the viewer. Strong lighting and composition as well as social consciousness and relevance are important to my work. Recently I have included text or single words in my paintings, ranging from graffiti to precisely rendered font. At times I intend it to be easily legible, at other times I like to add mystery to the piece by deliberately obscuring them. The words may be inspired or even written by the subject portrayed. Motherhood, women’s and children’s issues are of special interest to me. While my style is representational I incorporate strong contrast and colors, texture and text and, more recently, stamping to create a contemporary look to my work.” Memberships: - International Association of Pastel Societies (Master Circle) - • Eric Ward
    Eric Ward
Visual Arts: Other, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture
Eric D. Ward Painting, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Installation, Performance M.F.A.: (Studio Art) Claremont Graduate University, Claremont, Ca. (2009) M.A. : (Painting) CSUN, Northridge, Ca. (2001) B.A. : (Art): Westmont College, Santa Barbara, Ca. (1999) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My work tends to be confrontational yet inviting. I focus on the juxtaposition of contradictory ideas, materials, styles, treatments, processes, and textures in order to discover a balance between extremes, and it is this clash that I am most interested in. Part of my inspiration is derived from living all of my life near the Southern California coast; living on the edge where the land meets the sea, where the vastness of the ocean is surrounded by the sensory overload of civilization. By using a wide variety of materials and techniques, I seek to convey these extremes (and the tensions among them), to the viewer. I work with various media, styles, and genres that at times overlap within the same piece and/or series of pieces, resulting in what I would refer to as a hybrid. The synthetic as well as natural materials I use are very important to the work. They include wood, rusted metal, sand, sawdust, glass, cement, dirt, stain, gravel, acrylic, resin, nails, nuts and bolts, a variety of pollen and other organic material, and basically anything that is at my disposal. I am also fond of incorporating found objects and icons from various cultures throughout history into my art, sometimes transforming, mutating, and distorting them so that they no longer exist as they did in their original format. This leapfrogging among various media, materials, and styles is due to the joy and challenges I face when experimenting and exploring the extremes, and is what keeps me charged and motivated to keep pursuing the unknown. Ultimately, I strive to convey the contradiction and clash of the natural and the manufactured, giving new meaning to concepts and objects that may no longer be recognizable in their original format. I attempt to blur the boundaries between art and life, reality and fantasy - to expose and examine the gray area among them. I hope to share these sensations of living on the edge, and the bombardment of sensory overload that often characterizes contemporary life. In the end, my intentions are to raise questions and invite various interpretations while sifting through the quagmire I deal with to get from point A to point B during the journey of life, allowing the viewers to form their own opinions as to the meaning of it all.
  • Lois White
    Lois White
    Crafts: Ceramics, Glass, Jewelry; Music
Lois White, Porcelain Artist, has made Ventura, California her home for over 50 years.  Whenever she isn't painting or teaching porcelain art classes, she enjoys time with her family and involvement in church activities. Turning a hobby into a fine business after teaching organ for 25 years, Lois is well known in both music and art fields.  Many of her art projects are enjoyed in public venues, including a 14-foot mural of the world in the Santa Paula City Park.  Hundreds of homes feature her tile work and  several gift shops feature her creations.  She teaches several classes each week in her state-of-the-art studio. A member of International Porcelain Artists, World Organization of China Painters, Sea Shore Porcelain Club and Santa Barbara Porcelain Artists, her time is filled with sharing ideas and projects.  Many of her designs are reproduced by a large manufacturer of china transfers and have been used by fine chinaware companies.  Her artwork has appeared in several international porcelain periodicals and local newspapers. Still very active in her church, her talents bring joy to many who love organ music as well as  those who love fine china.  A creative mind always has many more projects in the "I'll get to that soon" stage  than time permits.  Her wish is that her works of art will be treasured and kept as an heirloom for years to come.

    Crafts: Glass; Visual Arts: Sculpture
I was born in Ventura 1947, raised in Anaheim moved back to Ventura in 1967. My first exposure to arts was at Catacombs Assn. on Ventura Ave. in 1969. In 1970 I moved into the Magic Forest, a hand-made crafts store owned by Val Franco. I started my metal sculpture there. I traveled the coast for a year doing craft fairs in 1974. I was in the first street fair in Ventura on Main Street and have been doing craft shows off and on as time permits. At the begining of this year my wife and I took a stained glass class and then a glass fusion class. We have set a glass studio up in our garage bought a kiln and other equipment, and we are off on a new adventure. Calling ourselves Recycled Iron & Glass,  We have done the shows at Green Art People, Ventura Elks, and Stone Works Gallery.
