Jen Livia, a Ventura resident since 2006, is well educated in art! She graduated from University of California, San Diego in Photography and Painting, then received her Masters in Studio from San Francisco Art Institute. She continued with her graduate degree in Media Arts from Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. All of this education prepared her well for opening her successful gallery and art workshop venue in Ventura, Red Brick Gallery and Art.

Livia is active and energetic! She conceived and presents the annual “Paint Ventura” festival of the arts. Her participation in running competitions, combined with her leadership skills, has led to her organizing and presenting race events. She served as an Arts Commissioner from 2012 through 2015 for the City of Ventura.

Livia has received many awards, including the City of Ventura’s Mayor’s Arts Award and the Central Coast CA’s 40 Under 40 (40 leaders effecting a change that are under 40 years old).

Says Livia of her acrylics, “Movement, color and balance are the life of my acrylics, each painting explores how these dynamic qualities can interact with one another and create a sense of harmony.” With bold colors, her “Color-Scapes” use carefully blended colors to contrast against a focal point.

Hilda Kilpatrick-Freyre is an energenic artist with a zest for life. The only time she slows down is to paint, and even then she’s still standing! Her list of awards, shows, speaking engagements and media articles is long but there are a few stand outs:
Southwest Art Magazine selected Kilpatrick-Freyre in their “Best of the West”
SkyWest Magazine, Cover Photo, 2009
Multiple First Place and People’s Choice award

Kilpatrick-Freyre, from Peru, paints nature scenes because, “I fear it may not be here forever.”  Her bright and warm toned palate gets brighter when she’s sad! She dons the same blue apron, covered with a painter’s history of past canvases, in the evenings. She paints long into the night, usually forgetting to eat!
