Truly exquisite: Youth scholarship fundraiser

Presented by Vita Art Center at Vita Art Center

Vita Art Center is excited to present its final exhibit and fundraiser for 2015, "Truly Exquisite". The exhibit features visual artists in various mediums blindly collaborating to produce works based on the surrealist concept known as The Exquisite Corpse. The artists' individual components will be become part of a larger completed figure. The final collaborative results will be revealed at the opening gala on December 4.

About Exquisite Corpse Game:
The chance-based drawing game known as the Exquisite Corpse involved each participant creating a portion of a human figure without seeing what others had created, which resulted in fantastic distortions, juxtapositions and surreal composite figures. The technique was invented by artists and poets associated with the Surrealism Movement that was founded by Andre Breton in Europe after WWI and continued into the 1950s.

The "Truly Exquisite" art exhibit is a fund-raising group exhibition that includes both emerging and established artists creating a component of a collaborative Exquisite Corpse. The pieces will be exhibited for the month of December and sold through a silent auction at the December 4 Gala.

Vita Art Center offers local youth a safe and nurturing environment during their least structured and, therefore, highest-risk times: after school, on weekends, and during the summer months. Consistent, quality art education and mentoring positively impacts youths' social development, academic achievement, and vocational opportunities. Studies shows that when youth have substantial engagements with the arts they are more likely to go to college, get good grades, and obtain a degree; to hold a full-time job. Help our community and our children. Vita Art Center is an educational not for-profit under the generous sponsorship of Bell Arts Factory, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization in Ventura, California. Contributions to Vita Art Center are fully tax-deductible to the extent provided by law
