Ventura Film Society Season 7 - Closing Night Party & Films

Presented by Ventura Film Society at Museum of Ventura County

Don't miss the final two films of the Ventura Film Society's 2015 Season!

Sunday, Dec. 6 Closing Night Party at 6 p.m., Museum of Ventura County
Two films starting at 6:45 p.m. - “Cave Digger” and “Finders Keepers”

The Ventura Film Society is taking a hiatus next year so that VFS founder & director Lorenzo DeStefano can complete and release his new feature documentary, "Hearing is Believing," about the amazing young Ventura County musician and composer, Rachel Flowers www.rachelflowersfilm.com

It's been a great seven seasons during which we have screened close to 400 compelling alternative films and brought in scores
of filmmakers and very special guests, fulfilling our mandate to "bring people together in the dark."

Sincerest thanks to all who've so loyally supported us with your attendance, film sponsorships, donations and as volunteers.
All of this could not have been done so successfully without you.

The VFS would also like to thank the City of Ventura and our numerous sponsoring organizations / venue hosts & media contacts, especially the Bell Arts Factory, Downtown Ventura Partners, the VC Reporter, the Ventura County Star, KCLU-FM,
the Museum of Ventura County, and Cinemark Theatres.

"Cave Digger"

In this Oscar nominated documentary short, artist Ra Paulette digs other-worldly, sculptural caves using nothing but hand tools. But, as patrons cut off his projects due to lack of funds or artistic differences, Paulette's frustration mounts. This penetrating portrait examines the cost of Paulette's obsession and tracks him as he rejects commissions for his own 10-year Magnum Opus. View Trailer at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY5PY-1-Iks

"Finders Keepers"

An easy contender for one of the funniest documentaries of all time, "Finders Keepers" is gut-busting, can’t-breathe hilarious, but introspective and knowing as well. Shannon Whisnant, a dyed-in-the-wool Southern entrepreneur, purchased a barbecue grill at an auction. Inside the grill was an amputated leg which he believes to be, therefore, his rightful property. What follows is a story centered on the twisted relationship between enterprising Whisnant and John Wood, a recovering addict and amputee, who finds himself in a battle with Whisnant to reclaim his mummified leg. Sound stranger than fiction? It is, and it’s all true. View trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvR3lE6p1nI
