Meet the Artists August 22 at the Museum of Ventura County’s Bi-Annual Art Alfresco Invitational Exhibition & Art Sale

Fine art will be a highlight at this summer’s Art Alfresco Invitational Exhibition and Art Sale, presented by the Museum of Ventura County on Saturday, August 22, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Stroll through the easels, booths and sculpture of 31 of the region’s finest artists, exhibiting and selling their work on the Museum’s Plaza and in the Martin V. & Martha K. Smith Pavilion. General admission is $10 per person, $5 per person for MVC members.  A portion of the proceeds from each artwork sold will support museum programs.  Guests can enter a raffle to win an original work of art by this year’s featured artist Steve Curry, titled “Whispers.”

Artists participating in the invitational include Virginia Beale, David Blackburn, Sherri Cassell, Susan Colla, Lori Corradi, Steve Curry, Duane Dammeyer, Pat Richards Dodds, Fran Elson, Gail Faulkner, Rick Garcia, Dan Harding, Stephanie Hogue, Kathy Ikerd, Maggie Kildee, Norman Kirk, Dan LaVigne, Shahastra Levy, Gina Niebergall, Paul Panossian, Marie Paul, Nate Pidduck, Victor Schiro, Dan Schultz, Arline Tepper, Elain Thompson, Andrea Vargas-Mendoza, Chris Weber, Jenchi Wu and Kay Zetlmaier.

Premiering on the same day is the exhibition “Sitting Pretty: Portrait Photography from the Salon to the Selfie,” which highlights the museum’s exquisite collection of photographic and painted portraits dating from the 1850s to the present.  A special exhibition of modern portraits created by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Ventura will be on view in the courtyard.

The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 East Main Street in downtown Ventura. Hours are 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Paid events include free admission to the galleries, and the first Sundays of every month are free general admission for the public.
