Ventura’s modern dance company invites Artwalk attendeees to sit and watch the Art of Movement.
Rest your Artwalk-weary feet while ALOFT Dancetheatre, Ventura’s modern dance company, presents a unique choreographic showcase at 8 p.m., on Saturday, July 18. The cost is $15. Our studio is at 47 S. Oak Street, Ventura. Reservations can be made by calling (805) 628-9250.
Unique to Ventura, ALOFT, a semi-professional modern dance company, will be performing artwork that will be introspective and entertaining. “Dance work is the essence of the human experience,” said Pamela Pilkenton, President of ALOFT Dancetheatre. “Since the beginning of time, we have utilized movement to share feelings of joy, fear, ambivalence, grief, strife and tenderness. As artists, we create a moving canvas of shapes, color and velocity. It is the one means of expression that is unique to who we are.”
This year’s Summer Artwork series will also feature an ALOFT performance at the Artwalk Ventura Collectors Reception at City Hall on July 17; and ALOFT’S founding members will participate in a performance piece at John White’s Studio at 5 p.m. on July 19.
Wander in during the day on the 18th at ALOFT’s home, the Namba Performing Arts Space, and watch a live rehearsal for Rubicon’s Musical Theatre Intensive’s “West Side Story.”
