On Sunday, July 5, kids can write postcards that will accompany care packages to active military members, and create patriotic-themed crafts to take home at the Museum of Ventura County as part of its Free First Sundays for Families. Related to its current exhibition “We Remember: Ventura County to Vietnam and Back,” the Family Day draws attention to the past and current members of the military of Ventura County. Admission is free all day, with crafts offered from 1-3 p.m. All ages are welcome.
The postcards will be distributed through “For The Troops” of Simi Valley, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing members of the American military with “care” packages -- basic necessities, goodies, and games. The notes will accompany the packages.
In addition, kids can create their own firecracker-style rings with pipe cleaners, and American flags, having just celebrated another Independence Day in America.
