Since 1991 thousands of elementary school children have explored the visual, dance, music and language arts of world cultures as inspiration to create or perform their own pieces in classroom workshops led by professional artists every April and May.

2015 was another stellar year for Children’s Celebration of the Arts with 13 artists leading 270 workshops reaching more than 8,000 students in all 17 Ventura elementary schools, two private schools and the Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education.

During the CCA exhibit the public may view selections of student visual artworks representing these workshops ranging from Japanese paper-cutting, Sumi brush painting, stained glass and French impressionism to Chinese block printing, Mexican tin art, Native American masks, art under the microscope, Chilean Rain Sticks and sun prints.

The CCA exhibit opens to the public on the following schedule. At the Albinger Museum, the CCA exhibit runs a single weekend, Saturday & Sunday, June 6-7, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., when visitors may also take docent tours of the rarely open museum’s historical collections. The summer hours for the Albinger and its permanent collection run from June 13 to September 6: Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The CCA exhibit is open to the public at the Museum of Ventura County beginning Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7, and continues through June 21 with regular museum hours: Tuesdays-Sundays, 11 a.m. -5 p.m.
