Clay Sculptures with Marilee Stockman

Sunday, Feb. 8th 11am-5pm $100 each includes clay

Students will be sculpting two terracotta clay sculptures in this new class with ceramic artist Marilee. One will be a figure while the other can be any animal you choose including fish, horse, birds or anything you can imagine. You are welcome to bring inspiration for a good form for your animal sculpture.

You will learn to make an armature (clay figure), how to work with wet clay, how to use clay tools and build a sculpture. How to finish the clay sculpture and a discussion of the finishes for the fired pieces.

The workshop is designed for students at all levels. Beginners are welcome. You will be able to choose projects based on your skill level and comfort.

Materials needed

Boxwood sculpting tools -they sometimes come in a set, if not pick out a couple in different shapes.

Bring some ideas such as: animal, fish, etc. One sculpture will be a figure and one will be your idea. I will be demonstrating a horse and you may do that along with me.
