Animals have long been part of the art story. They’ve been portrayed in religious rituals, as mythical creatures, incarnations of gods and goddesses, symbolically in Christian art or simply as pets. Some of the earliest images known are of animals on the walls of caves more than 40,000 years ago.
Menagerie: All Creatures Great and Small art exhibit features works by contemporary artists that create real and imaginary animals through sculpture, painting, and drawings.
Artists: Margaret Nielsen, Jane Callister, Matthew Rosenquist, Susan Petty, Joanne Julian, Rafael Perea De La Cabada, Hiroko Yoshimoto, Jeff Mann, Jem "Jamie" Morris, Charlene Spiller, Derek Boshier, Scott Taylor, Lynn Hanson, Chenhung Chen, Bob Privitt.
Opening 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
