The Ventura Music Festival presents classical, jazz, popular music and family concerts in a variety of venues in Ventura, and educational outreach programs.

Founded in 1994 as the Ventura Chamber Music Festival, the event proved an immediate success, featuring nationally known instrumentalists, ensembles and chamber orchestras lperforming in historic, architecturally unique settings in downtown Ventura.

In 2003, the festival's board named vioilinist and conductor Nuvi Mehta to lead the event into an era of world-class performers and eclectic programming. Renamed The Ventura Music Festigval, Mehta has presented violinists Cho-Liang Lin and Leila Josefowitz, guitarists Sharon Isbin and Christopher Parkening, singers Nicole Cabell and David Lomeli and pianists Guiseppe Albanese and Alexander Ghindin. The Festival's first outdoor shows have presented Pink Martini and Chris Botti, enthralling nearly 3,000 fans each year.

Today, the Festival stands as one of the county's signature events, attracting upwards of 10,000 conertgoers during the first 10 days of May. The Festival has added jazz and crossover artists during the fall and winter months, such as Brandford Marsalis, Diane Schuur, Chris Brubeck, Mark O'Connor, Arturo Sandoval and Poncho Sanchez.
