Galina Richardson was born in Volgograd, Russia and has been drawing and painting ever since she was a young girl. Growing up, she was also interested in languages and she ultimately sought a formal education in the field of linguistics. While working as a technical translator in Surgut, Western Siberia, Galina met her American husband. She soon joined him in Ventura, California and has called this coastal city her home for more than twenty-five years.

Galina studied graphic design at UCSB and for many years worked as a graphic designer, creating logos, advertisements, posters and brochures. She went on to work for the FBI in Los Angeles as a language analyst, but her passion for art remained.

Mostly self-taught, Galina is a passionate watercolorist. She loves the freedom, spontaneity and delicate nature of the watercolor medium. Capturing people in all their uniqueness has been the main driving force behind Galina’s artwork and her two daughters often provide inspiration for her paintings.

Galina frequently exhibits at the Buenaventura and Thousand Oaks Art Associations, where her artwork has received recognition from her peers and the public. She paints plein air, enjoys life figure drawing, attends classes and workshops taught by renowned local and international artists, including Keiko Tanabe, Nick Runge, Cuong Nguyen, Gerald Brummer, Paul Jackson, Jeannie Vodden, and Judy Koenig.

Galina is also an avid runner and has recently reached her goal of completing 50 marathons ... view more »
